Another 928 movie (Sort of...)
As I rememer, it was bass guitarist Phil Rudd that owned the 928 and there is some nice shots of it racing(?) a bi-plane out on a large field.
If you had a mullet in 1980 and like 928s, I highly recommend this video! That is of course if it is still available...
Here's an interesting thought........ Back in '79, the 928 and 930 had approx. 230HP and all the celebraties(sp?) were impressed with its power and speed yet still managed to hurt themselves in the cars.
As times progress and now there are cars like the Lambo, Vette, 996TT with more than 450HP, have the celebraties improved their driving to match the power increase?
I have heard that the most common source of wrecked Ferarris. Lambos, etc, for the recyclers, is DotCommers, or people who owned game companies, or bands, or movie stars, who suddenly got rich, but were not originally car people. But they want the status symbol, so they buy a 600hp, 200mph car. And they crash. It is really easy to get yourself into trouble, where you end up going a bit too fast on a straightaway, and you do not judge properly how fast you can take the next corner. A friend of mine got a Viper, without previous experience with a car of that power. He tried racing a Ferarri F-50 on the freeway, and when he downshifted and hit the gas at 80MPH, he spun the rear wheels, even at that speed, and ended up spinning loops on the freeway, amazingly managing not to crash his car, or into anyone else. But that is a typical example of not knowing what your car will do, and getting yourself into trouble.
With a high HP car people either stomp on the gas and lose it in the turn when the rear end breaks loose, or forget that faster acceleration means more speed and a longer braking zone, not a shorter braking zone.
