Hi there.

Roger with 928srus asked me to post on this question. Firstly, I didn't sell this unit to you, but Roger did. This was a unit that originally was built for 928 motorsports, but they needed one NOT cut for cats and since this one was cut for cats they passed on it. I also didn't include the cut off pieces that are available at anytime should you need them or want them. I included instructions with the crossover. The phone number is on the instructions as well. Feel free to give me a call. I certainly want you to have good luck installing the unit. They can be a bit tricky to get lined up.

Firstly, the catalysts are the same size inlet and outlet. The catalyst can face either direction as it flows both ways equally well. I like to install the crossover so that is loosely hanging on the factory exhaust manifolds with the supplied new bolts. I then use the 2.5" preformed clamps with two slightly different sizes. One smaller than the other. I put the smaller step wards the crossover and the larger size towards the catalyst. The catalyst should slide onto the crossover about 3/4 of an inch. You can now gently snug both bolts for the clamp and it will secure the catalyst onto the crossover. Next, take the factory exhaust and it should slide INTO the catalyst on the other side. It may require a little force. Make sure the factory exhaust isn't overly expanded otherwise it may have to be shrunk down at a muffler show with the correct dies.. At this point put the smaller 2.25" clamp in place with the larger side facing catalyst and the smaller side facing the factory exhaust. Next snug it up a little and everything should line up. Make sure you are happy with orientation and then tighten up all parts so that the exhaust is installed nice and evently.

Please feel free to contact me about if you have any questions.

Thank you and I hope it helped.

Thanks for the info. I didn't notice the phone number on the instructions or I would have called (and still may.) The pipes are all in position as you describe and the larger 2.5" clamps are in place. When I try to install the 2.25" clamp as you describe I have not been able to get the catalyst side of the clamp to close enough to get the bolt far enough through the two reaction bars to get the nut started. I'll try again and get some pictures. Of course, temperatures in the mid-teens here aren't helping.

See there Mike? Just another example of why you need to live closer.

Well, I finally got this completed with the help of the folks at Motorsport, Inc. I took advantage of the +60F temps today to install the new set of 2.25" clamps that Motorsport sent a week or so ago. It seems TorcTite may have modified the shape/dimensions of the so called "reaction block" (the piece that the "reaction bars", bolts and band tighten down on) such that it won't allow the bolt on the 2.5" side of the joint to line up. Dave Lomas at Motorsport sent a second set of 2.25" TorcTite clamps with the large side bolt hole of the "reaction block" slotted to allow the bolt to pass through. After fitting the clamps and getting them tight this job is complete. Now to have a shower and fire up the butt dyno and see the results.

I'm sure it is, got to make sure that people don't confuse the two. Good call Stan.
