Autocar Mag - New 928

It is mostly conjecture true. However the bottom line is, they broke the story with actual quotes from people who know, and people at Porsche, that there will be a new 928 V8 4-door Porsche by 2007. I think their sketch is way off, especially since Porsche are quoted as saying it will be a fastback, and a spiritual successor to the original 928. This is all fact, and very exciting to me. Agreed, conjecture can be frustrating, but I make an exception here because of the excitement and publicity that Autocar have given the return of the 928.

I agree that it's interesting that Porsche confirmed they're building a 4-door sedan in the next few years (though, imo they should have done this before the Cayenne!). The concept drawing used in the articles are rip-offs of the 989 concept car merged with the 996 accents and I don't think they'll come close to the real thing. The weird thing is that they include a grainy spy shot of the car and it doesn't resemble their own drawing in any way I can see!

Hello all who are looking for the new 928
I got the Danish issue of the Autocar magazine today - Unfortunately the article is in Danish, but I can mention the key items
- The code-name for the project is E2
- To be introduced 2007
- Common technic with Cayenne, and to be produced in Leipzig, side by side to the Cayenne
- inproved Cayenne engines with420 hk and the turbo model 500 HK
- Front engine 2 and 4 wheel drive - No trans-shaft
- The body to be made in steel and not aluminium - Less than 1800 Kg
- Suspension like VW Phaeton - A-arms all around and air-springs
- 4 doors, a mix between sedan and coupe, designed in Porsche's design centre in huntington Beach, California (Maybe some of you have access and can go and take a look)
- The final 'green light' is not yet given
Maybe that's all rumors and nice computer drawings - Who knows?

Any one of those. I love the looks of our cars. Why do they need to to mess with perfection. If they can't make it better, don't mess with it. Granted our cars aren't pefect mechanically, but I love this look.
