Sometimes I think I am, but then I look over and see a
Honda Civic with a MASSIVE spoiler, coffee can muffler,
and 2nd rate lowering job revving at me like he wants to
race, and I think, "Nope, nothing wrong in this camp!"

Name your addiction: Drugs, gambling, sex, alchohol, or whatever. This car addiction is a family tradition in my family.
Yes, we are probably crazy thinking that because we own a porsche 928 that its worth all the expense, but when I rationalize the situation its not so bad.
Honestly, I havent incurred that much expense compared to other cars. Is everybody stupid or something who doesnt own a porsche? They all think you have to pay dealer prices for service and parts. Its almost a put down. I tell them of the story of that I paid $276 for a headlight lense on a Chevy Venture and no aftermarket source was available. Then take into consideration the quality of a chevy part. The last lense fell off the car due to condensation. I think prices on most cars today are getting expensive and people need to start educating themselves. Sure, if you own a Geo then maybe parts are relatively expensive.

My friends at work occassionally use the term "obsessive compulsive neurosis" with respect to my "fixation" on German automobiles (yes...and other products too). My most recent obsession is the 928. In my line of work, it is helpful to be a little bit...shall we say...eccentric. If the shoe fits...well...I'm wearin' it, ain't I? Now, if you really want meet some crazy car owners...come join us on the e3 BMW Bavaria list (www.seniorsix.org)...these folks are certifiable as well and are not afraid to admit it. For example, one of the most interesting and active enthusiasts on that list goes by the moniker "Mad Gau"(his last name)...I've always loved that! Now, if you think we 928ers are toiling away in relative anonymity...check out the e3ers Recently, one of my all-time favorite actor/directors, Clint Eastwood, was quoted as saying "always remember...you ARE what you DRIVE." Food for thought, Clint. Now, anyone here know where can I get one of those bumper stickers that says "Careful...I'm nucking futs!"? Stream of consciousness post...ends...now!

Insane? Because I spent some money on the car?

Lets do the math:
Car cost: about $7000
This year with complete suspension rebuild: $3000

So maybe I'm going to spend $3000 a year going forward. That is $400/month

What sort of equivalent value could I get for $10K + $400 per month?

Maybe:
A 1994 Miata?
A 1997 Honda accord?
A 1996 BMW 3 series?

Are we nuts???????????

I don't think so

Lightbulb I'm Going Off the Rails On this Crazy Train...

Using a box of Q-tips to clean your car is perfectly normal behavior....

I feel like I become more sane everytime I push the accelerator down to the floor ....

Some people spend thousands of dollars to visit a therapist. My 928 doesn't charge me by the hour ...

gotta go give my car a hug ...

Well, I think I just became a little bit more insane. I traded my motorcycle for a 1985 S2 w/108k miles on it.

Now, for that 89 GT I always wanted ...............LOL
