Default Thanksgiving law enforcement style

When it’s Thanksgiving and you have to work and decide to drive the 928. The look I get when people look at me when I drive and they see my patrol rifle and gear in the front seat.

Wow, need a tactical rifle with ~30 rounds to go to work in OKC?

Guess I'll stay out of there from now on.

Meh. Most departments have their officers have rifles available. No different that the shotgun that was always locked to the dash in years gone by.

Even in my little town of 11k people. All the cops have ARs in their trunk,

Much more of a "rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it" than anything else. BofA in LA a while back taught that lesson. Most cops learned from it.

Considering all the $hit that happens in the US, I don't blame people looking at a someone transporting a firearm like that.

Actually we carry more than 30 rounds. Most of the agencies within the metro area go to active shooter training. Like mentioned above I much rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. OKC is a fairly safe city, but like most cities we have our share of unstable people. The police have to adapt to the change in society’s behavior. It seems there are more and more people that weren’t raised to respect others, have common decency to others, follow the law, take responsibility for their actions, and tend to have a sense of self entitlement, and self importance. I don’t like to mess with people. If people would act right and do the right thing then I wouldn’t have to make contact with them. If people would follow traffic laws and the rules of the road that would be great. I could then get paid to just drive around. I could then say I’m a professional driver.
