Default clutch slave cylinder

Anyone had luck with rebuilding the slave clutch cylinder on '87+....I have one leaking & one I replaced a few years ago...or is this a waste of time & $ ? I realize the condition of the bore would dictate whether it would be successful, What about longevity??

I have had good luck with White Post Restoration and they offer lifetime warranty!

I think the new OEM clutch slave is pretty expensive.

Holy Inflation Bat-merchauser. These have almost tripled in the last 12-24 months.

Recently had them rebuild a clutch master. They sleeve the bore so original conditions is irrelevant and the sleeve makes them longer lasting compared to original.

you can also see if 928 INTL has a used 87 on slave .

NOTE S4 on are longest slave cylinders,
if you put in an 86 version the clutch wont release properly as its a bit shorter.

In the picture you can see the Greg Brown slave flex line connected to the shorter ( wrong slave) cylinder.
Note this was in my car when I got it and why the clutch went bad, It took a bit of sleuthing to figure this out

'87+ can be had for just less than $300. However, the last time I needed one it was ~$90.

yes it was 90.00 till they sold out,
then a 5 month time of no slaves available,
now back in production and the supply lines being filled, still 300 for a slave cylinder is a rook job .

you can buy a toyota slave for 24.00 ,
yes I know it wont fit but still thats the idea its just a slave cylinder.

just go to the web site and call that vendor,
then you can send in all your old MC and slaves and have them redone for a group rate

For the life of me I cannot find my invoice so I just called them. I should note I did not go that route to save money, I feel it's a superior product to new after they rebuild one. They bore out the cylinder and install a brass sleeve.
This also alleviates the issues of piston length since you are getting the same one back, just with new seals and an upgraded cylinder.

Cost:
Brake / Clutch master: $225
Slave: $175
Brake Master & Booster - he will only do a booster with a master as a package: $470
He stopped rebuilding boosters separate after receiving some back under warranty only to be full of brake fluid from the master leaking. The only way he can warranty such parts is to do them in pairs. So if you plan on having a brake master rebuilt, might as well send in the booster.
