Default Need help with valuation

Recently a person approached my mechanic to inquire about buying my car. I hadn't thought about selling but I will very soon be 70. I'm finding it uncomfortable getting in and out and it bothers my neck twisting for visibility. It has gone from a frequent driver to a garage queen. Maybe now is the time to move on. This is not a for sale add but requesting help on a fair price.

1981. Bone stock engine. Auto trans. Owned since 1986 and driven gently since. Recent Calif smog. Color is Pacific Blue Metallic.

No rub rail. Sun roof. Original phone dial wheels. 1988 donor mahogany interior with carpet kit. LED lights in pod. Custom new leather pod. New old stock OEM leather dash. Interior wood trim package and shifter.

H4 headlights. Ball joints have been replaced with steel. Recent water pump replacement.

Not concourse but a nice car well sorted out.

So what would be a fair price?

Thanks in advance Mark

Color is beautiful. Miles? We’re the wood interior pieces original or aftermarket? AC and the rest of the electronics condition? With these cars, the high dollars require originalities. See the latest OB ‘79thats just sold for $40k on BaT?

Thanks for the replies. Millage unknown--I've replaced the speedometer twice. Wood is aftermarket. Air conditioner blows cold. The radio and speaker system is aftermarket. Clock is inoperable. Vacuum system to lock all doors from drivers door inoperable.

Color is original but has been repainted. Body is very good. I don't have pictures at hand but I'll take some over the weekend if needed.
The picture posted above would match exterior perfectly.

I don't expect a museum or concours price. The interested party wants to come look at it tomorrow and it I decide to let him I need a number that would be a fair price.

Okay, I'll start. If the maintenance is up to date and the interior is good: $10-12k?

Mark - as described, and without more info, like full file of service records, quality of older respray, quality of interior swap, etc, it is hard to say. Unknown mileage does not help. I think you are looking at pure driver value, which is $8 to $10k for a decent, sorted car.

Unknown miles is ok, but what's displayed on the odometer? Repainted but does it still have the original belly pan, muffler/exhaust system? Any rusts or bubbles in the usual places? Too many mods to garner any high dollars, even with water pump replaced and AC blows cold.

It's an '81 without comp package/sports seats. Nice driver? I think $8k is max. If offered $10k, take it and run!
