86.5 Bowden cable query
Hi, I have reviewed a lot of the Bowden cable posts however I can't find any relating to the 86.5. The S4 on wards seems to have it in a different location and it also seems slightly different. The 86.5 is mounted between the fan and engine as per attached photo. From what I can gather the cruise control cable is on the right hand side, the rod to the left is the throttle, the cable at the top is to the pedal and the cable that runs underneath and to the bottom of the photo is the bowden cable? Or am I completely wrong? So after I confirm the identity of the cables do I follow the instructions relating to the S4 bowden adjustments?

something doesnt look correct with the the cable routing.
I posted a picture of a USA machine.
Also based on the condition of the ignition wires they should be replaced,
might be the same for the fuel lines.
where are you located?
The Bowden cable should be placed on its ball with the cable just snug as the throttle is opening,
you will need a helper to push the pedal to see when this happens,
then adjust the Bowden as necessary

The routing is definitely wrong. All cables should come from the drivers side of the engine bay. Looks like you have one coming from the passenger side. If you look at the image you provided you will see a hole (in the bracket) above where the cruise control cable comes in. This is where the Accelerator cable should enter. There is also something wrong with the whole linkage. Looks like it has been modified for some reason. Cant imagine why.

Yep they all should feed from the left side of the car, and all drop onto the ***** from the top.
In your pic that upper pivot arm is incorrect for an 85 to 86/.5 MY.
Also looks like one of the Cruise connection locking tabs is broken, and yes the boden cable is in the middle of the pic you have shown.

Wires
Ignition wires should have a length of insulation (sleeve) leading from the distributor as the wires cross the cam covers. In your photo, your wires seem to have that, but the sleeve is severely cracked and in the wrong position for the intended purpose. Roger Tyson has the better quality wires and at the time, they were the same price.
You can see the sleeve leading from the "15" connection in the picture attached.

Ah ! RHD - that explains why it would be coming from the opposite direction.
The Accelerator cable would be the one from Your drivers side, the Bowden cable would be the one at the top from Your passenger side and the cruise control would be the one at the bottom from Your passenger side.

Yep accelerator pedal on the correct side of the car - right hand side.
