Came across these randomly searching 928 images. The GTS interior is all wrong but the exteriors on both are very impressive. Too bad the asking price is so high. It would be fun to play around with these.
Wow, actually that is super cheap for a royalty free 3D model. I pay hundreds more for simple 2D royalty free illustrations or images in my line of work.
But ya that interior looks more like they pulled it from a 964 rather than modelling the actual interior.
If I had a use for that, the price would be the least concern -- it's way cheap compared to the time needed to just generate a 2D plan or el from a picture, let alone a decent 3D. I'm all for a fair price for work done.
^ Agreed. The hours that went into these I'm sure are in the hundreds maybe even thousands. I change my position, you guys are right, that is not a bad price. My initial desire was to just download them and spin them around on my computer screen for a few minutes to check them out further.
I have not used any of those. Learning 3D CAD does take a commitment, but it is completely doable if you have never done it before. There are free CAD systems out there but I can't speak to how easy or hard they are to learn. I always point people to Rhino3D https://www.rhino3d.com/. Download the trial and run the tutorials from the help menu. Very easy step by step instructions and with just a couple hours a day for a few days you will know the basics of surface modeling.
@SwayBar. Consider too what your intentions are for learning 3D modeling. Broadly speaking, modeling programs are NURBs based or polygon based. If you want to make actual parts from your math you’re better off learning a NURBs based program. Polygonal based programs like Maya are great for fast modeling where precision isn’t necessary.
I've always been interested in seeing how a 928 would look with its beautiful front fender styling applied to the rear.
I've also been interested in learning 3d modeling but haven't had the motivation to spend the considerable time to learn it due to lack of an interesting project.
The appearance of an already complete 928 model, and a quality one at that, has changed all of that as I can start with it and hack it up, and restart as many times as it takes during the learning process.
