Hi there,

I took this thread as the final push to replace my bulbs, but I've got a brake light issue now.

For the record, I'm driving an 86.5, manual.

I knew from the thread that I'd get the warning light for replacing the brake lights, and I'm ok with that until I pull the cluster and replace interior lights.

But I wasn't expecting that my center light stays on all the time, just dim. All three brake lights behave correctly when the pedal is pushed, but only the 3rd center one stays on all the time. I didn't notice it during the day, when I did the bulb replacement, but when I went out after dark to admire my handiwork it was dimly lit.

I'm not sure a resistor will help, but am willing to try. I honestly don't care about cruise control, other than a desire to not let little problems accumulate. Anybody else have a similar issue? I'm in the middle of moving, and my multimeter is in a box somewhere, so I can't report how much current is being sent. I understand it's normal for some current to be sent from the controller, but didn't think it was enough to light the bulb.

Also for the record: the rubber boot for the rear right side marker is insanely hard to put back with the fuel fill pipe up against it. I may need to get a child to help make sure it's on correctly, since my hands are too big to get in there.

Oh and the reflectors inside the tail light housings look good, except for the brake lights, which are heat-blackened. I'm going to experiment with reflective paint to see if I can get better output. More to come soon...
