Default COMMON OR SIMPLE NO LOCK?

So a couple of days ago, my power lock button worked fine. Today when I unlock the drivers door with the key, the passenger door unlocks too. But now my power door lock button is not locking the doors.
I know this has happened to someone else.
what should I be looking for?

Not sure what year car you have. Assume its the one in the pic. Mine is an 83. When I unlock drivers door with my key, it has always unlocked the passenger door. Does yours have a power door lock button inside? Mine has never locked from inside. Am I missing something? I`ve only owned this car for ten years.

I have a 84, yes shown in the picture. My central locking button locked my doors when pushed a couple of days ago.

For my 1990, the problem was the locking control module.

On my 88. I had this exact same issue. Turns out the fuse was blown. IIRC the fuse was #2 and it was a 25amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and now when I lock the doors from the driver side, my passenger door lock binds when it locks and the whole think cycles to open.

My plan is to remove the door panel and inspect the linkage.

I am not sure this applies to your MY, but in my 86.5 there were a pair of tiny inline fuses buried behind the CE panel - you might check them.

Michael Benno before you take the door apart,
make sure the lock **** is not screwed on too tight, it can make the lock linkage bind.
Also check the **** surround peice, it gets screwed on palm open snug, this part being too tight can also cause the lock to bind.

Check that both of the inline fuses are working they are clipped to the rear top of the CE panel

Thanks for that Stan.. looking at the fuse chart, only one 5A for "central locking: is refenced. i was going nuts. So there IS separate an inline fuse for each side!!. Explains a lot now. My system is possessed with just the driver side working!

Either clipped to the top of the CE panel or have fallen behind it like mine did...

They are black holders with a 400ma glass fuse connected to black wires with a red tracer.

Make sure you only replace the fuses with the correct 400ma ones and not 0.5 amp fuses.

Found them (pics later..easy to SEE....hard to find)..turns out i installed a bolt that was too long. The bolt was just long enough as it passed through the door to jam the locking mechanism. Works as advertise now!

So I also have an '84. My issue is that when I lock the drivers side door with the key the passenger door lock stays open. However the central locking system locks and unlocks both doors when pushed. Could these in-lines fuses also be a culprit in this situation?
