I think one such '87 or '88 S4 automatic is in Finland and has been in garage waiting for front end crash damage fix for nearly 30 years now.

Default What is with these seats in my 1979?

Is there a thread somewhere on the group re the early 911/928 seats? I have what i think are 'poorly recovered' front seats in my 1979 but now im not so sure... somedays they look a lot like 1981 Competition S but then I was told those seats were non-powered. Both of my front seats have power controls. Your thoughts??

What is in the front atm.

I have seen photos of cars with three adjustment button dials. What does the third set of switches do? Thanks for any assistance.
The answer used to be to send your seats on a Greyhound bus up to Classic 9 in Michigan, but their schedule has been crazy since Mr. Budd retired and some of the whispers about the quality with new ownership haven't been as complimentary. There were a few reports of a new shop out of South Carolina, I think, but don't remember the name. Keep checking out some of the recent seat restoration threads, and you might find the name of that place. But it is apparently REALLY tough to get them looking great and not like an overstuffed LaZBoy.

Welcome to the forum, by the way! You should make an intro thread with pics of your 928! In case you didn't know already, a MUCH better search tool around here is to just use google and add "site:rennlist.com inurl:928" to the end of your search.

Found it. I knew it was one of the Carolinas, but it was actually North...

The 01/1988 GTE prototype has the full sport seats with variable heat on the driver side and partial power.

Compare to the seats in my 1979-

Mine are 'raised/bulbous' so may have been recovered or perhaps due to uneven wear?

What material were the M383/387 seat covers made of in a 92' GTS? The car is a very basic spec without leather on the dash / interior etc. Would this be leatherette?

Leather. The centers of the covers were made of perforated leather or various kind of cloth.

I would like to add some pics that I have collected over the years of very nice 928 sport seats. Seats are a big deal in a car, as we have all taken long trips in uncomfortable seats in other vehicles which make you squirm and leave you with a sore back. My 928 seats are in good shape and were always comfortable no matter the distance. But I wanted to upgrade to Champagne seats one day, unfortunately he has disappeared. But some of these are his work I am sure.

My favorites, I don't know if these early design ones were "sport" but they are the best I have seen. (are they now Roger's?) The leather and the stitching are flawless.
