928 vin and serial number in build order
Hi, thank you for having me.
i have a question regarding the vin on my 928,
Vin : WP0ZZZ92ZES842001
Its serial number being 2001?
I have tried researching and reading all I can on this but now I must ask...
i read that the 001 may be of significance ? The Porsche center seamed surprised by that number which alerted me to investigate it more , but they couldn't tell me anything more other than "its unique "when I phoned, I'm under the belief the model was allocated a 2 in that year from a post I've read on this , is this the first car "001" or car "2001" built in 1984? And to my understanding its a Euro.
Thank you to anybody who can give assistance.
its a 4.7,4sp Auto, silver. Leather interior, seams to have all the options ticked.

It's the 1929th rest-of-world market 1984 928 built. And it's a desirable model, 5-speed no sunroof 300 hp Euro S. It's as unique as any other 928's VIN. (they're all unique...)

Rob,
it is to my understanding its not possible to have a 1984 model with a " 1929th" build number you state.
the numbers started from 2001.. ( that's my number) , It's caused me confusion in the past as my number is listed "2001" as the first number.
So please somebody verify to me that they have a lower number than 2001 with the year model E for 1984...
Its relevant to me as I document a book for the car, and some big changes to the cars specifications from occurred in 1984

For the model year 1984, Porsche built 2028 US and Canadian market 928s, and 3007 rest-of-world market 928s, for a total of 5035.
The first US '84 VIN is WP0JB0922ES860061, and the first '84 rest-of-world VIN is WP0ZZZ92ZES840061.
The last ROW '84 VIN is WP0ZZZ92ZES842088. So yours, ending in 2001, is the 1929th ROW model built, or 88th from the last of the '84s built, if you prefer.
Entirely likely that yours was the 1929th ROW market built that year.
