Default Correct Blaupunkt Radio...

So my 84 has the following option code: I158 Radio, Blaupunkt Monterey (1986) or Reno SQR 46 (1987) 2462 13989

Can anyone out there confirm which radio is the correct radio for my build date? 1984 928 S U.S. 1205

Pretty sure it should be a Monterey SQR23 - the Monterey SQR22 is for 1983 only, AFAICT.

22 on blaupunkt model means 20 watt output, 2 =released in 1982, SQR "26" means 20 watt, 1986... Often porsche used blaupunkt models 1 year older than the model year of the car.

How much value does having the original radio bring to the table when selling your car? Would I only be doing to appeal to less than 5% of the buyers out there? Just curious the groups opinion on that...

I think it's important if the car is in at least preservation class condition. A concours car without the correct radio, of course it's a ding. A really nice driver that's unmolested with 60-90K miles, also worth more with the correct radio. Anything in lesser condition or with major alterations, the radio is a non-issue.

My 84 5 speed has 76,000 miles, the original window sticker, and service manual with many entries. Full tool kit and spare too. Sounds like I should find the original radio.

Any chance it could be an SQR 29?

I'm not familiar with the numbering convention that siscogts mentioned, Googling SQR29 comes up with a Blaupunkt called an Augsburg, I've never seen that name in any of the Porsche literature or catalogs. Maybe it was an Italian market- specific thing?

Below is a list of all the radios I can find in the literature that were available in '84. Entirely likely there were others used in particular markets, and especially if you include dealer-installed stuff.

Code:
84-	Blaupunkt Koeln SQR23	7 641 898 111

82-83	Blaupunkt Koln SQR22	7 642 898 070

83-84	Blaupunkt Atlanta SQR22 (from Turbosition website)	7 642 885 070

84-	Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 22
84-85	Blaupunkt Atlanta SQR 23	7 641 885 111

I think SQR 23 altanta for Us cars is good for a 84 928... Augsburg is not a top end blaupunkt radio, never used for 928,afaik.
