Intake Manifold paint cracked GTS - solutions?
I know we have some very experienced folks on this list, so I thought to ask if you could share your advice/opinion on the best way to deal with the thick paint on the intake manifold of a 1993 GTS cracking? It was perfect up until a few weeks ago - I don't know if the sudden cold helped it crack or something my detailer used to clean the manifold maybe? It looked beautiful when I took the car to a recent concours event, but now that I've got it listed for sale (of course) I get some cracking of the paint.
Thank you in advance for your ideas/insights on possible solutions and costs. I'm in Houston, Texas by the way.
I know Don suggested that I can get my mechanic to remove the manifold and then have a powdercoater blast it, bake it to degas the metal, and then powdercoat it.

Actually it doesn't look too bad.......but there's not a lot you can do about it other then the removal, repaint, etc.
A suggestion though......
You might want to go to the hobby store and get a few colors of silver paint and try and come up with a match for the intake. Then take a brush with about 3 hairs on it and run it through the cracks with a small amount of paint. Might not be perfect, but at least the "dark" area of the crack will not be as evident.
As an aside......if the rest of the car is very nice looking and well cared for, most buyers won't mind that much.......I mean really,......how many people
ever look under the hood on a daily basis.......and not too many other people look at it except for you.....
