Phoenix windshield recommendation needed
My 30 year old Securit windshield developed a 4 inch long crack over the last week (dangit!). Can the local redneck windshield wranglers handle this job....or should I go to Phoenix? 1988 928 S4.
Is Securit glass still available (with antennae)?
Should I hand this one over to insurance (Modern). In AZ all glass is covered.
TIA!
Brian

Really nothing special about installing a windshield (even a 928 one) that a competent technician cannot handle. Local guys should be okay(depending on the local guys)
There are a few antennae windshields around. I think Roger may have some.
Absolutely let insurance pay for it. The windshield with the antennae is very pricey.

I replaced the windshield on my '88 back in 2004 after a rock nailed it.. Had to order a new windshield from Germany to get one with an antenna, but a local guy put it in.
As mentioned above, nothing special about the install, just watch the antenna wire....
Insurance did pay for mine.. $1500 give or take a bit including install..

My windshield was replaced a couple of years ago. My insurance company, USAA, took care of it. I used their recommended installer. When I scheduled the appointment, the scheduler set the appointment for the next afternoon. I asked him to make sure they had the windshield in stock. He said that they did. He called back the next morning to sheepishly admit that that the windshield had to be shipped in from California. It was installed the following day. Not bad, and much better than I'd expected.
