Default 79 In-tank Pump Question

Does anyone know where I could find this In-tank filter strainer? I have scoured Google to no avail.

It is part of the pump assembly......never seen it as a separate part.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was afraid of that! I may end up buying the external pump here soon. If I removed the old In-tank pump and replaced it with a tank strainer, would a new external pump have the juice to properly function without the In-tank pump?

IIRC, '79 has an external pump with proper flow rate for CIS and most does not need the intank pump. Check Bosch pump number and google is your friend. I'm sure there is a site that tells you if the flow rate is enough.

My CIS car ran fine for years in Saudi (120F, 3000' ASL) with only an external pump, which I found out later was an S4 type - keep on trucking as you are.

The internal pump is a low pressure pump that is only there to prevent the external pump from vapor locking.

It runs at around 5 psi IIRC and you can get away without using one unless you live in a very hot climate and you daily the car in temps above 100F or in high elevations like Colorado.
