That is the best kit available of a 928S. Very detailed and motorized.

Neat model... I was looking into ordering something like this... there was one on ebay I saw the other day of a '78 or '79 if i remember correctly.. I guess the auction ended because I dont see it anymore, but I did find these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=10779
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=2581

btw.. "motorized"? wow I've never heard of a motorized kit... what exactly does this mean? you can turn it on and it will drive straight?

One more note, does anyone know of any sources for 928 bodies that would fit on an R/C Team Associated style on-road race car?

Actually the same company makes the same kit in Old Bugger form. Motorized means it will drive straight. Drive in a circle drive in an arc. It depends on how you point the wheels. No remote though. It goes where you send it.

The maker of the kit... Tamiya, used to offer that extra in quite a few of their kits (not just car kits, but also on armor as well). They got out of doing that in the 80's, but are once again offering that on only a few of their latest kits.

Aside from Tamiya, Heller, Revell-Monogram, Fujimi and Gunze Sangyo also made kits of various model 928's at one time. Fujimi made the greatest variety of models. They even had some of the modified Koenig ones as well.

I have never seen any make of plastic 944 kits. Die-cast models also favor the 928. You can find some 1/24 MotorMax 928s, 1/43 Burago 928s, but I have rarely seen 944s. Once I found a small Matchbox 944Turbo, didn't buy it as I didn't own a turbo then, and now regretting it, as I can never find one again.

If anyone knows who makes 944 models, plastic or die-cast, or where they can be found, please let me know. Thanks.

onebad928s: Nice job!

$65 for the Tamya kit sounds a little pricey to me (I don't think I would dare to ask that much, if I had one). But I have seen it, and can confirm it's really nice.

A friend of mine in Germany built one at the time. The instructions came in English only, and his English wasn't that great at the time. So, when the instructions called for painting things in body color, he used "skin" color for that. Needless to say, he had to correct a few things before he could call the job done.

In the meantime his English has improved vastly (he worked in the US for 6 months at one point)...

When I had my car painted, I had the shop paint my die-cast 928.

My brother found me a 951 kit that I'm saving for when I have some quiet time. Right now I have like 5 models being built in various stages of completion.

Here is the kit built by someone else.

Watercooler,
Nice work on asking your shop to paint your die-cast model as well...
Best,

944Ken,

I have that same 951 kit and it is very nice. My wife purchased it for me when I had a white 951. I ditched all the decals and painted it to match my car. Make sure you paint with high gloss paint, or clear coat it, and put it in a display case.

Tuk,

Thanks. Remember to do the same next time you get a spray.
