This may or may not sound off the wall but what do you guys think
about cutting out the Porsche lettering on the rear bumber cover
and from behind mounting some leds set in acrylic that will shine through
lighting up the Porsche leters? You could either wire it so it comes on with your tail llights or brake lights. Maybe even both differring in brightness.
Has anyone done yet.

you could string them along the front bumper too and install a voice module like knight rider!
hmm, I dont think that illuminating the porsche on the back would look very good. I like it understated and simple.

There's been lots of Pontiacs which have done that same thing on the rear bumper. I remember reading a how-to on a Fiero site a few years ago. Well done, I think it could look pretty neat.

Booooy, you guys are merciless. I used to hang fuzzy dice proudly in my old Mercury. Now that car is gone, they hang in the livingroom. For reference, dice don't add horsepower, but they do make the car cruise better.
Done cleaningly, that could be pretty cool. I'm concerned that LEDs tend to have very focused, directional light. Its not easy to fab lenses that disperse the light evenly enough for that kind of application. Maybe a plain low-intensity standard bulb(s), or indiglow material would work better? Keep up posted if you pursue this mod

At the last porsche swap meet in PA there was a guy from NY with a black turbocharged old bugger that had LED's mounted in the Porsche bumper cover lettering, he said it had a micro controller that would sequence the lights in different patterns but was disconnected. I didn't have to see them on to know what it would have looked like......a bit tacky, in my opinion.

Yeah, I see the sequencing to be a bit tacky. Not what I was thinking of. More like an extra brake light. Dim red when the lights are on, and bright when the brakes are applied.
