Default Sport seats

For those that have them, are they comfortable? I'm 6'1" and 190 lbs, wondering if I'd feel cramped and stuffed into the seat?

FWIW, they look like they're a pain in the *** to get in an out of.

I have sport seats in two cars and I'm about your size. You can't slide into them like an old Buick.
If you plop your butt in first then face forward after you are seated, all is good. By doing this you will save the side bolster from breaking down. Once in I can drive 300 miles or to a pee stop which ever comes first. I think they are the most comfortable seat that Porsche or any car has produced

^^^ Ditto. We like them a lot. We've got sport seats in the GT (and the GTS), and regular ("comfort") seats in the S4. We've driven lots of long trips in both the S4 and GT, and prefer the sport seats. I'm 5'11 and 210 and they seem perfect. They are snug but not tight, very comfortable but not confining and not cramped. As Van said, the trick to getting in is to plant your butt first and then rotate.

We'll have the GT at Sharktoberfest (and I am sure Van will be there also), check them out if you can make it.

Cheers,

I'm more 'square-shaped' than Jim and I love my Sport Seats.

Note that 944/968 Sport Seats are narrower than 928 Sport Seats.

Which sport seats? There are the 78-84 manual sport seats and then the later 85-95 power sport seats.

The later ones are similar to the standard S4 seats but with larger bolsters.

The early ones are very low and have bigger, narrower feeling bolsters; at least they feel that way to me.

The 78-84 seats came out of a 911 so every 911/930 owner is looking for them, as they weigh nothing compared to power seats.

And they are the CS ones:
- Upper part from a 1985/1995 sport seat.
- Lower part from a base model 911 (no electric adjustement) with a 928 cover.

I love these. They are low, comfortable and light.

You could always modify comfort seats to a sort of halfway-house version - Paul Champagne has offered this I think. A bit more support but also easier to get in/out...

I like them a lot. I have both sport and comfort seats. I swapped them in my S4. I use mostly the sport seats on DE's.

No, Paul's seats were not a half-way version.

I believe he at least discussed it - and also angling full sports bolsters out a bit more for a bit more generous room...? Unless I just imagined the whole thing (always possible of course).

Default I did the conversion

I converted the comfort seats to sport seats in my 928. The reason I did that was that I had 12 way power seats with lumbar on the drivers side and the factory sport seats do not have as many adjustment options.

I'd never sat in a 928 sport seat prior to engaging Paul. I'd sat in 911 and/or 944 sport seats. While I had no problem at the waist the upper part of the bolsters put uncomfortable pressure on my lower rib cage. So, I asked Paul about accommodating my lower-to-the-seat and wider rib cage when he converted my seats.

However, before I sent my seats to Paul, I had the opportunity to sit in several examples of both Paul's conversions and actual 928 sport seats. Based upon those test sits, I told Paul to just do the conversion to 'standard' 928 sport seats.

Perhaps all of Paul's conversions are slightly-wider. But, as far as I know he didn't do any one-offs size-wise. I think, also, that my seats were one of the last - if not the last - conversions he did.

I have a set of sport seats that I would give anything to have them re-uphostered in grey green. It appears that none of the shops have this color.

Rob Budd did my interior in grey green. Have you checked with him?
