Default Fuel pump replacement 1st year 928

Has anyone used a Walbro 255 lph in line universal fuel pump as a replacement successfully? I recently acquired a 1st year 78 5spd car that has been parked in a barn since 1995 after both fuel pumps quit. I have a new Walbro GSL 392 255 lph pump left over from a long gone project, and I'm wondering if it'll work fine in this application. Plenty of flow and volume for this engine, but will it overwhelm the fuel system? Do I really need to replace both pump or will 1 suffice? Anyone have a good cost effective replacement source?

Welcome aboard!

How about an introduction and pics of your car before we start getting intimate on repair advice?

If the Walbro can be plumbed in and mounted properly (and has a check valve), and it can deliver required pressure (75psi for CIS) it should work. Delivery rate shouldnt be an issue. Might be a bit messy around the second pump location? My CIS car had an S4 pump when I got it, and it worked fine in 120F temps for years.
