928 Pro Tour LS3 / Z06 Build

I am in the process of doing the same conversion to a 1981 five speed. I have purchased the adapter hubs from 928 Motorsports but not the transaxle mount as yet. Are there alternatives to altering the torque tube. Is it possible to use it as is maybe with spacers?

I spent hours in the forum reading about other builds....Just Peachy, Empty Shell, Xchop and Dinsdale. If you haven't read my thread or the others, then you should start there. Carl is a business and does R&D on his products, which cost time and money, so unless you buy his kits, I doubt he will offer up any secrets. As for the rest of us and our builds, there are no two builds alike and each one has there own little tweaks and secrets that might not be shared in the forum. I'm not opposed to helping, but if you read the builds, you probably answer most of your questions.
Best of luck with your build and please start a thread and share your build, you will be surprised how many people will be able to help with questions you might have.

Radiator, and DBW throttle pedal
Awesome write-up. Going through something similar, but LS2. Hoping you can provide a little help:
I looked into Ron Davis, they require dimensions and other such details, however - they did not guarantee the fit for a custom.
Do you happen to have the questionare provided to Ron Davis with dimensions etc...? I see no radiator cap, so I am assuming
you're using the pressurised oem overfill?
What did you do about the steam pipe?
Lastly, the GM DBW accelerator pedal, do you have a template or dimensions for the bracket?
Thanks

sorry for the delay in responding..........(see pictures below of radiator specs)
Ron Davis has a radiator that is a drop in ready with the fan and steam port. I added an oil cooler into the radiator. I kept the system basically stock to the way Porsche made it so the rest of the plumbing stayed the same.
Speak with Bill at Ron Davis and he should be able to help you.
Sorry, dont have a template for the fly by wire accelerator pedal... I just cut and fabricated a mount.
Best of luck with your build.

Hi with regards from Barcelona, I am new to this forum and heard from it through google, because I was looking for "928 LS conversion". I had a few 928´s in the last 30 years and must admit, that I allways liked the effort that Porsche put into building a long lasting car and the I admire the transaxle concept as much as I admire the potential and power of the LS engine. So that is in my eyes the perfect combination and with more that 30 years old, the conversion can be looked at as a "contemorary conversion" like the GM V8´s in the 70´s and 80´s Jags that are widely available and can be legal on eurpoean roads.
You heard that a lot but with some conversion on my back and done by myself, I have to admit that you did an amazing job and I never reached that quality in my builds even though my BMW 6Zylinder Turbo Diesel equipped Scout 1963 runs since 25 years with my conversion and managed to pull my Cigarette 1000 miles from our home in Germany to Spain and back.
If you ever considering selling your wonderful 928, pls let me know.
Congrats and best wishes from a true fan of your work.

ALL Chevy LS family engines have exactly the same dimensions... I've completed swaps in various vehicles including my own 928, don't let anyone BS you and tell you that torque tube length and bellhousing dims vary between an LS1 and LS3... Ridiculous statement! Great work on your end though... cheers

Sorry for the thread necro, I came across this while researching. I am doing an LT4 and 8L90E into a 86.
What happened to this car? It's an awesome build.
Oh and I come from off road fab world, too.

Any bits of your build you'd like to share I'm sure we'd all love to see! Are you keeping the direct injection?

Will do a build thread in a bit, as to not clog this thread.
