Oil level in pan
I'm wondering if it's normal for all cars to have the filled oil be higher that the "nose" on the oil pan.
What this mean is that the oil level sensor and fill tube base are below the level of the oil. That can cause oil to seep past the gaskets and/or o-ring. (for older cars.) It's also pretty messy when removing the fill tube or level sensor without first draining the oil.
Or is the dipstick not right?

Yes. Keep in mind that the level sensor bends upwards in the pan.
It (and the filler tube connection) are well below the pan/lower girdle junction too.
Maybe a quart to a quart-and-a-half below 'full'.
