Hi Tom,
Cool model!
I'm also working on a 928S model (as soon as I get my exams done I'll finish it). My previous 3d project was a 996 here:

(the background is real, btw)

Tom, if you like, I can shade and render your model with photoreal carpaint (I used to be a cg visual fx artist).

Cheers!

Tom,
Nice work my friend. I will enjoy making these a wallpaper for my home and work machines. I'm sure you put a lot of labor into these as I have never found modelling in a CAD program to be particularly easy. Here's another cyber kudos to you...
Best,
TUK

Excellent stuff guys!

I've been working on a 944 Turbo 3d model (my car) for a bit inbetween other things and I have a 928 started as well (I have to do something at my day job between phone calls and surfing Rennlist ) I do plan on moving my cars over to Racer after I get them a bit further and reduce the polys down to acceptable numbers.

Here's a shot of the 944 Turbo as a work in progress, I've still got a few things to add to the car like the windshield trim, wipers, and the rest of the stuff on the wheels, then tweak the surfaces a bit more:

All these cars are beautiful! I'm a bit partial to the 951 though...

Tom,
What program do you use to model? I'm an architect and like to use some unusual cars in my 3-D renderings. I have a 928, but it is a low quality mesh. I haven't had the time to even modify the one I have let alone begin one of my own. I would love to be able to use your model in some renderings. What do you think?

Joe, I believe that is a matter of just dropping a texture onto my car and spectular shading it into the evironment. Its a different ball game in Racer because the C++ openGL code does the shading and particle elements for you.

I'm relucant to simple give out my source files because I'd hate to see my work for sale on TurboSquid or some jackass making Xbox games takes my work and makes $$$ off it. Or cough *motordy$$ * cough// puts it up on ebay for sale!!!

Here is a free 928 mesh I found on the net. Right click save. It has no textures but it wouldn't take long to play with.

My model was made in Maya and probably needs to be ported to 3D studio Max to get into Racer. I doubt few people here could even import and model the car I made. It has tons of graphic files to support it and mapped on graphics for the pod, side lights, head lights, tail lights, leathers, etc... The final files are around 13 meg and it grows larger everyday. I see a few areas I'll go in and tweek to make it realer. This forum is the ultimate "Simon Cowell" to judge the work. Its hard to ever complete it. There are already something more you can detail.

The model was hand done 'the hard way'. I basically looked at the shark in the garage and made it piece by piece. Later, I tried to scale it right against real pics but its still judgemental. With my 930 I'm doing take off modeling from pics and not just screwing around. I spent hundreds of hours tinkering with this 928 to get it the way it is. I'm just a novice modeler really. But I'm much faster as making part and learned alot of stuff doing this.

I will make a part of this open source when I get it ready for racer though.
