Seal under front lip of the hood
Is there a seal that runs along the under side of the front lip of the hood? It looks like the beading from the fenders just stops and something else should continue across to the other fender.

None on mine, and there isn't really room for one there. The welting fills the horizontal gap between the bumper shell where it rolls to the front edge of the fender. The vertical space there is small, just enough for the flap on the welting.

Use a little bit of child's modelling clay (think "play doh") to check for actual space available there. Even if there is a little space, what's your reason for wanting a seal there?

I always thought that...the later model cars needed that welting in there, to maintain consistency on the front end.
It's the one thing people mention to me, that it is "missing" on my 87.
Its not...just there isnt any.

You hopefully won't find a casual need to remove the front bumper shell. If/when you do, you'll see how the welting between the shell and the fenders is so elegantly installed -- it's with a specific chisel-point Monel (like stainless steel...) staple through the lip on the plastic shell. I can pretty much guarantee that the look of a piece of trim stapled on there is not what you want where the hood meets the shell.
If you want to play with the look, grab a piece of the smallest vacuum hose you can find and stuff it in that space.

^^I'm sure it's me but it just looks like there is something missing.
Beading on the early cars runs all the way across without interruption. Not so with the later cars where there's a cutoff at the fender/hood lines. Without taking off your front bumper cover, I've seen a few tape off and paint (black) under the hood to appear as if the beading were there. T

Thank you very much guys. Not sure that I will mess with anything since all of you have confirmed that the absence of any trim is the way it was meant to be.
