Default 81 Barn find runs ( but not for long) gas?

The silver 81 I found runs. Having been sitting for 22 years, I pulled the tank, pressure washed the inside and cleaned it out. New tank filter and hoses and fuel pump and filter. Changed the oil, used Swepco 502 as a cleaner. The car fired right up. It runs really well, good idle, no weird noises. I drove it around the block to trying to learn if the gear box or the TT have any weird sounds. All OK. However it won't say running while underway. It just dies and if it let it sit for a few minutes it will start right up. I can then drive it for a few hundred yards and repeat. I only put 5 gal of gas in it. Could it be running out of gas?

Does it stumble or just cut off? Have you put a timing light on it when it's not starting?

It starts at the first twist of the key. Runs smooth and idles well. After driving it feels like it running out of gas. If I quickly depress the clutch and pump the throttle it will continue to run. Never stumbles, never misses, just runs out of steam. I'll add 5 more gallons of gas just to make sure it's not a pick up from the tank issue. Fuel pump is running OK. At first I thought it was related to fuel pressure.

Did you have the injectors sent out and cleaned? Could be clogged. The strainer is at the lowest spot in the tank so 5 gallons should be plenty of fuel.

I'm sure the injectors are clogged. I'll pull them out and send them up to Witch Hunter
