Coke Car going to Pitt Race this weekend (July 21-23)
Thought I would let you know I"ll be at Pitt Race with the Northern Ohio Region PCA for their HPDE weekend at Pitt Race (July 21-23).
I am really looking forward to this. I've never been to Pitt Race, but everyone says it's awesome! Lots of turns and elevation. General layout reminds me of Mid-Ohio, but with a few extra turns and more elevation changes. Should be fun!
If you're around, please stop by. Will post vids after the weekend.

Damn. I need to get out there and see you. I'll have two baby grandkids in town this weekend, so it might be a challenge. I will try.
Also, Pitt Race is my "home" track. Since the addition of the South track, we have our own "cork screw" and it is fantastic. You'll want more horsepower when you come out of the tow and go back up the hill though (no matter how much you have, after a bit it won't be enough).
Here's my vid from Pitt Race Club HPDE from last year:
Kind of crude in that the camera mount is in the way, and there are no telemetry stats, but it gives a good feel for the track. I use my Mustang for DEs.

OMG! What an awesome track. Right now Pitt Race is my #1 track, with VIR edging barely behind. If VIR were as close as Pitt Race, then I'd give the edge to VIR. but it isn't so Pitt Race is my new fav!
Great seeing Ed and his granddaughter at the track. Big ran came just as Ed departed, but then it cleared up and stayed clear for the rest of the weekend. Saw a precipitous drop in track times throughout the weekend. Friday was all about learning the track and learning the line. Saturday was all about putting it into practice. Sunday was all about refining and pushing where I weak.
I went with a few Corvette buddies with 400+ WHP. They were fast! They were turning 1:52 to 1:55's NASA track record (in the class that one of them races in - don't ask, because I don;t remember) is 1:56. My goal was a 2:10, and I got down into the 2:05's - So I was SUPER happy with my performance.
The track itself is really fun! It's about 2.8 miles with 19 turns. There is over 110' of elevation change. Turn 4 through 6 has you drop 80' and then climb 90'! Woo hoo!
Anyway, enough blabbing, here is my best lap. Will post a longer session video after is it done rendering.
Man I love this stuff!

Damn Andrew that's some good driving. I especially like how you handle the car when you are thrown off line when passing, down through the little cork screw and around the "tow" and up the hill. You also got some pretty impressive speed on the front straight and back straight. Car sounds great too.
As to VIR, the owners of Pitt Race, Jim and Kathy Stout, are co-owners of VIR. There is some cross pollination there.

Would have thought he'd taken some R&R in after last weekend. Need to source the same type of batteries Ed in running on.
Good stuff! Glad you're having fun and bettering your expected times.
Granted, you look like about..."half of the Andrew"...l saw last year in he**.
Brian.

It's funny. Someone asked me what I was doing with my feet. and I could only tell them by what I was hearing in the audio with the engine. That wasn't enough. Then I saw a vid of a guy with a camera on his feet and it opened my eyes.
Since my wife had given me a dash cam for my birthday sometime back, I decided to put it to good use.
I mounted it to the cage as it comes down from the A-pilar to the floor. I'm not 100% happy with it, but it works, mostly. I'm going to try and place it on the "knee" crossbar pointing down at the pedals to see if that gives me a better view. THe main thing is I didn't want it interfere with anything - and right now it doesn't, but you can see my pant leg gets in the way a bit.
