Hi,

I need to purchase new motor mounts for an '88 924S. Vibration at idle, smooths out...feels like mounts to me.

Researching parts has me confused and needing some recommendations.

Categories seem to breakdown roughly as follows:

Pelican has "Meistersatz" for $33 and "Corteco" (OEM) for $125.

Pelican also has nice-looking billet aluminum mounts for $270/pair, which isn't much more than the OEM's. Is the billet aluminum mount at Pelican a solid mount? The picture looks like it has some kind of rubber/composite absorption material on the interior. Would this mount be suitable for a street car, or just too harsh?




Paragon also has "aftermarket" for about $55 and OEM for $150.

I think both vendors require purchase of new bolts and possibly washers also.

Are the OEM's worth the 4X + price differential?

Any reason for Paragon's premium--better mounts???

Recommendations appreciated and TIA.

So there's a range of ~ $70 to ~ $300 available.

The cheaper aftermarket mounts have a history of failing quickly. If this is a street car, I would recommend the OEM mounts. It's a little more money, but you should be good for years. The solid mounts will transfer noise and vibration from the engine to the cabin. Also, the engine is subjected to more vibration from the car. This could contribute to stress cracks in the manifold, oil pickup tube and fuel rail. I would only consider solid mounts for a dedicated race car. (Actually, I have a dedicated race car and I still use the stock mounts.)

I use the Lindsey mounts on my car

There's slight vibration. Way better than a blown mount, slightly worse than a new rubber mount..

It's negligible really... I drove it every day and it didn't bother me.

Looks like Cost on those have gone up recently. :/

The Real OE/Porsche ones used to be $125-$150, looks like they are now $150-$225.

I wouldn't use anything else then original versions unless you want to do them again soon. I personally changed one with a Factory Version last year.

Just an FYI - If you use any of the aftermarket ones, like the Lindseys without the optional spacers, the bottom of th eoil pan will hang below the crossmember. That makes the loweest point of the car the oil pan. Spend a little time off-road and the oi lpan will take a beating. Ask me how I know?

i am far from knowledgeable in this space, but i just replaced the mounts in my 87 924s with the cheapest ones i could find. They were $35 each from rockauto.com made by URO. I ordered the correct updated bolts recommended by clarks-garage from atlantic auto.

I can't vouch for their longevity since I've only driven 200 miles since the installation, but they made an immediate difference and the car feels great - it was practically undriveable before.

That said, this is just a project car for me and I was looking to do it on the cheap. If you're looking for something else out of your car you may want to adjust your investment accordingly )

Seen all from 82- expereience i had for the last few years is porsche 951 motor mounts, they work and work and well i never used them race units, but ... I bet the trade off is they buzzzz Does this make for adjustable Buzz or adjustable oil pan buzz?
