Hard to open door
After replacing the drivers door weatherstripping it has become very hard to operate the outside door handle and I am afraid of something breaking. Is there an adjustment for this or do we just have to wait for the new seal to squish some ?

The pressure required to unlatch the door by pulling or squeezing the door pull can be adjusted - if this is what you are referring to. The handle actuator arm has a black plastic piece that can be adjusted up or down to decrease or increase the "pull" required. The arm is threaded and the plastic part can be screwed up or down. On an '84 944, you should be able to get to the actuator arm by removing the door panel.
Later model cars have a "plate" which blocks access. For these cars the handle can be removed from outside the car and the arm "popped" off using a screwdriver. It's a bit more complicated, but it is possible.
