Post "spacesaver" wheel - how??

hi, my 931 had a flat the other day and I tried to fit the spacesaver wheel. one of the problems is that the wheel is about 4 inches closer to the discs than the spider wheel, so the nuts cant tighten onto the eheel. (also, the thread on the studs finshes about a quarter inch before the wheel. Is there some sort of "spacer" available?

And, the little instruction book says not to inflate the spare (spavesaver) unti you need to use it! Then you use a Porsche supplied electric pump.I didnt have one, off course, but borrowed an oem one which didnt work. So, I ended up jacking the car, taking the fla over to a repairer, and waited for it to be fixed, then put it back on. Does anyone have any advice here? Should the spare be pre-inflated? Are there alternatives to electric pumps?

many thanks

pete

Pete,

The spacesaver spare should be deflated for storage. I haven't had the "opportunity" to try it on my 931 but I used a $15 JC Whitney compressor qite a few times on my 80 NA. I don't know if the spare needs a spacer or if you have the wrong spare. May want to ask them over at 924Org.

hi Dennis,

thanks for your help - I've only just got back to the forum, hence my tardy reply. Yes, I have to investigate the "spacer" problem - at the moment the car is being resprayed, so its a job for the future.

cheers

pete
