Default 1988 924S RaceCar Project- Help or 4 sale...

It is hard to believe, but I tore apart my 88 924S and began building a Race Car (5 years ago). Then I got married. Then I started a business... Anyway, at the time I had almost $10k invested in the car ($4,000 car, $6,000 parts). So, now it sits and hasn't even been started in years... Anyone in the Midwest (preferably near Detroit) have the skills but no car to work on? Obviously I have the hardware but no time and waning skills to work on it... Most of the parts are already bought and some of the suspension already put together. I was hoping to race in the SCCA but who knows where it fits in now... Any and all advice on this topic is welcome. Should I just part the car out?

Hey, dude!

Certainly it can be a solid ITS car, yet the 2.5L cars aren't really seen as any more than a mid-pack car these days. Since Spec-944 is now growing into the Midwest area, with NASA, your market appeal may be better there. IIRC you've got the correct suspension parts for Spec-944 - 400#, 30mm t-bars, and Konis. Oh, except maybe for the spherical bearings. But if the springs, t-bars, and shocks aren't in yet, you might be able to make a decent package deal to a 944Spec racer. Check in on the NASA forums for those... think they're www.nasaforums.com.

That said, since the parts are mostly new unused - you'd probably be more likely to get more of your money out parting out what you can. Since it's already caged, etc., perhaps it'd still be best to sell the car as close to stock as you can have it, but sell it as a trackday/DE-ready car, possible to build into a Spec or other race car.

Hey Vaughan,
I guess you figured out who this is by my situation. Thanks for your help. I certainly have a lot of great racing parts. I will check out the spec racing (sounds like a hoot) and make an inventory of what I have. There is always ebay! Cheers to PUB Racing!, Rob

I have a lead on a spec suspension setup, but if that falls through, I'd be very interested in buying your suspension bits. I have an '88 924S that I'm going to race 944 Spec with, so it would be going to a good home

Paradox,
Please drop by the 944 spec area on http://www.nasaforums.com

We are trying to build the 944 spec class in the midwest so we are looking for cars (built or not)

I would be interested in the suspension parts, and may have friends interested in the car as well depending on what it's current status is. I'm also planing on spec 944 racing, though how soon depends on money & parts costs...
