1981 Porsche 924 Weissach Collectors Edition
I am going to go look at said car on friday. It has 25K Miles on it and has this Weissach Package, which I know nothing about. Here is the list he gave me of things that have been replaced in the last month.
12-9-05 - There was an alignment
12-12-05 - Fuel Level Sender
12-21-05 - Brake Booster
12-21-05 - Battery Terminals
12-21-05 - Front Pads
12-21-05 - Tie Rod Assembly
12-21-05 - Brake Master Cylinder
12-21-05 - Steering Rack Boots/Kit
12-21-05 - Fuel Screen
12-21-05 - K22 Fuel Filter
12-21-05 - Fuel Pump Relay
12-21-05 - Fuel Accumulator
12-21-05 - Air Cleaner Gasket
All of those I have seen receipts for.
What’s not on the receipts is the new timing belt, fuel filter, full synthetic oil and oil filter, rebuilding of the two rear brake calipers and the four new BF Goodrich tires.
The paint seems to be in excellent shape and the interior looks like the day it rolled off the assembly line.
I have a list of things to check for when I go to look at the car. Just wondering if anything else that I should ask him to change or be extra cautious of when I check her out. Also he is looking for $7500/OBO for the car. Is this a fair price?

I'm thinking that that price is a bit high, though it is low miles and in great shape. You'd get better answers over on the 924.org board though. www.924board.org

Three Wheelin'
For $7,500 US it would have to be rolled directly out of a museum for me to buy it. The Weissach is a nice issue, but it's not a 924 Carrera GT.
I'm curious about some of the repair issues. For example:
Fuel Screen -
The Weissach is an 81 model. Beyond late 79, 924's had two fuel pumps, one in-tank and one external. The earlier cars have a fuel screen in place of the internal pump. Did he just replace a dead in-tank pump with a fuel screen because it is cheaper than a new pump?
rebuilding of the two rear brake calipers -
Every picture of a Weissach that I have seen has the 4-lug brake setup. That means rear drums. Does he mean a rebuild of the rear drums?
Air Cleaner Gasket -
I've had a 924 for years and I have no clue what this means. The air filter gasket is attached to the air filter when you buy it. You can't replace just the gasket. Does he mean he replaced the air filter?
There was a thread on the 924Board a few months ago about a very similar sounding Weissach, same price, same mileage. Seller and prospective buyer said similar things to "The paint seems to be in excellent shape and the interior looks like the day it rolled off the assembly line". Turns out when the pictures were posted the carpet was actually badly faded and there were paint issues under the hood (possible crash damage cover up). Here's the thread:
