Default 924 AAR cold start problem

Hey guys! I have a 77' 924 that has problem with cold starts. it stalls if I dont accelerate. I checked the cold start valve and it seems to be spraying fine. However when i took a closer look at my AAR auxilary air regulator/valve (the one in the bottom left corner of the picture i submitted) I thought that the hole looked like it's too small so I bought a used one (bottom right pic). The hole in the used one looked pretty much the same like the hole in the one i already had and it didn't fix my cold start problem... Witty 924 on youtube semms to have had a similar problem with his car. The one in the top left corner is his old AAR/AAV and the one in the upper right corner is his new one. You can clearly see a difference in the size of the hole between them. This leads me to believe that the junkyard sold me a faulty part... Or maybe my part is working fine and the jukyard sold me a fully functioning one and maybe the problem lies elsewhere. The strange thing is that just as a test I drilled up the hole in my old valve and reconnected it to the car, It started without stalling.... Is the hole supposed to be that small or not? Hope you guys are enjoying your own Porsches. Thanks in advance!

You can adjust these.

On the otherside of the unit is a small (maybe 8mm?) nut, undo it a bit then you can move the bolt its attached to and increase\decrease the hole. Might need a bit of trial and error to get it right but should sort your problem,

Thanks

That's not likely your problem. You are correct in thinking that the valve should be fully open when cold.

You are incorrect in thinking that the valve is cold because it's in your hand and not on a warm motor.

Put it in the freezer, it should open up.

I do expect that your problem lies elsewhere; need to review control pressure and mixture settings...

Have you looked at the warm up valve?

I understand the 1977 is the same as my 1979 but just check.

Just cleaned it out and replaced it with kit and 1st time starts!!!!!!!! finally it starts and runs much smoother.

part #0438140011 for 1979.

I got mine on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185048307714

Business card with the part was https://www.missingparts.de/products...-up-regulators

Hope this helps as such a pain

cheers
