Default Grounding strap missing?

I've been rebuilding my 87 924S, getting help mostly from the 944 forums, but I'm rather confused on a grounding strap.
In most videos/pictures/etc there is a braided, separate copper ground strap that attaches to the bellhousing and connects to the firewall.
I do not have this strap, and the car ran fine previously.
Did the 924S not have this strap?
Pictures for reference, not of my car

No one? A pic of the area between the intake and firewall would help. I'm trying to get this fired up this weekend if all goes well.

Any disadvantages from just picking up a generic one from a chain parts store?

I figured it out after spending some time tonight with my car. The negative battery cable grounds inside the battery box area and bolts to the bell housing, directly from the negative terminal.
so no additional grounds strap is needed it seems
