Default beast of a z28

Here is a quick film of my buddy's z28. He's the one helping with the 3.0L swap.

403rwhp ----> http://gallery.rennlist.com/albums/m...icsz28_002.avi

Enjoy!

WOW! leaving aside all Porsche love i'd so drive that thing, don't care what car buffs have to say about it. I'd just slide in the seat, listen to the exhaust for a while and let it rip Scary cars indeed
vlad.

Matt what is done to it? In college I got to drive my buddies LG383 Z-28 with a little over 450HP and it was a beast. I loved the lumpy idle from the cam though. Always had a backup car, you could not drive it in the rain, just not enough traction.

Yeah, this isn't his daily driver. The cam surge is sick and would not be fun to drive daily, especially in the rain.

RR, you have no idea. I think this has over 500HP at the fly, with 403 at the wheels (dyno'd of course). I don't know, maybe I can get him to register here so he can tell you everything he's done to it. All I know is that I'd love to have it in the 944! The 1/4 mile speed is 117 IIRC. Pretty quick. Violently quick actually.

thanks guys!!! my name is Eric, as matt has so told you all. I consider my Z to be a little on the slow side. She should be in the 11's, but without a rear end in the car, 2.0 60ty foot times is all i can manage....till next time.

Umm the car does look awesome but I'd say it is more like 480 hp not 500+hp unless it's drivetrain loss is higher than 25%.

I know I know everyone likes to round up a little bit on hp.

Instead of revving the car, lets see it burn some rubber!

Brilliant minds think alike. Stay tuned!

We'll probably get to that on Thanksgiving.

Whatdya say Eric? A good 200 ft burnout for these Porsche guys? Too bad we didn't have the camera the last 5 burnouts. Mike is bringing home his camcorder so we will have better quality this time around.

So, i used to own my share of domestic stuff ( 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400, and a 94 Mustang GT with lots of goodies putting out about 330hp to the wheels) but my question is, why do all the F body guys go to a single exhaust like that??? Just curious???

Funny you would say that.... because this is the first ever v8 f-body I have seen that has 1 exhaust coming out the back. Everyone has dual this and dual that -- I like this one because it's a single 4" exhaust the entire way back. IIRC it's a spintech muffler, but what exactly it muffles has yet to be determined.

I had an original '68 RS Z28 that was a blast to put in 2nd gear, tach to 3K and let the clutch go. (My car was on the cover of Year One back in '88.) A little bleach and water............cool cover photo.

More recently I had a '96 Z28 with ....... nothing extra. I really miss cubic inch displacement. I also test drove a '96 SS Camaro. I was doing 85 mph in third and not at red line. It was a blast. I remember it being a single exhaust as well. I think it has something to with the 180' turn under the passenger side footwell.

Why do you guys think having 403 at the wheels is only good for burnouts?..... But in this case....you can have your burnout + 100ft. The car is great for messing around with......it will spin around in 1 lane, and it goes fast in a straight line....however, it is nothing when you put it in a corner and try to make it hook. skinnies up front and DR's in the rear make for an unpleasant track experience...oh yea, and stock brakes.....
