Must be rear wheel bearing season!
Well I was within 10 miles of home two nights ago and my mild wubba wubba sound from the rear turned into a WUBBA WUBBA GRIIIINNND sound. Fortunately I was nearly home when it started sounding really nasty.
I had already ordered the bearings and tool from Paragon the day before.
So some advice requested...the old since I'm in there....
Although I haven't heard a peep from my CV joints I'm thinking it may not be a bad idea to re-pack them and swap them side to side. Sound like a reasonable thing to do?
How difficult are they to disassemble to do the "clean and re-pack"? Do I risk breaking one of the snap rings or other parts?
Thanks!
Steve

lost my bearings!
I had the beginning "whup whup whups".Took my unit to the shop and sure enough it was a rear wheel bearing starting to go.After changing tire sizes on rear(went from 225/50/16 to 245/45/16's) both bearings have gone.I hope this is not a trend.

CV joints are not difficult to disassemble, but you need the right tool. you can buy the Snap-On pliers online for about $25. Don't even try to use the cheap sets with interchangeable tips that you get in auto parts stores.
