As long as we are telling stories. About 4 years ago I decided to go into business for myself. I needed capital and the bank was willing to loan me about 3/4 of my need. So I had to find a resource. After many tears and heart breaking process I sold my 1972 454 corvette in restored condition. Well I went a year with nothing but minivans in my driveway, One late summer day I decided I could take that no longer. Being a new small business, I knew I could not borrow any money, nor did I want to. SO I went looking at the car I loved in High school. Yes the 944 was at the top of the list. I bought her with cash and have loved it all. I had to get used to the lack of power after the corvette, but the handling is so so so much better.

I have done all the mandatory maintainance and am now moving into the mods. The way i see it, this early NA model will never be that fast, but she can handle like a beast and looks very sexy. So I am not doing any speed mods, just handling and cosmetics.

I've probably wanted a 944 since I was fourteen and never thought I would get one. well im 17 now and have had one for a little more then six months. I remember the firs night I had it in the garage and we didn't have any plates for it so I couldn't drive it, I just read the owners manual for about an hour. I think my parents were very worried for a while there. The biggest problem i see being in the next four years is what is going to happen to it when im in college, its in my moms name for insurance reasons, but she has said many times that she wont do anything with it unless i approve it . The list of things that i would like to own at some point is huge. In reality they are toys, and you do get bored with some of them after a while. But im pretty confident to say that there was be a front engine, 4 cylinder water cooled Porsche in my possession for a long time.

I have had a few 944's:

87 951, modded to the extreme, 2.8 liter 420hp/520tq at the wheels.
87 944S, sold to a minister, superb condition, black on black.
87 944 NA Auto, still own, replacing head.
86 944, red on tan, good condition, bought for 700.00, from another tuner, it had a bad #2 bearing. Just dropped in a stock 2.7 liter, sparco seats, the car had stainless brake lines, weltmiester springs, cold ac, working sunroof, everything works :-) Now its my daily driver.

I love these cars! And by the way, the turbo we dropped in David Rays 88 944... Its a 2.7 liter engine (factory block and head), converted to low compression (9:1).

Take Care!
