Possibly making gauge panels, interested?
I am speaking with a guy about making panels for mouting aftermarket gauges in the space under the radio in late 944s and 951s. These will be made when you order them, so you'll be able to choose between having them in polished aluminum finish, or painted black. They will fit one, two, or three gauges, whatever diameter you want, and if you want other things like switches, lights, or ***** for something like a manual boost controllor all you have to do is specify the dimensions of the hole needed. For more complicated layouts it will probably be a good idea to make a template, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I expect these to cost somewhere in the realm of $30 - $35 dollars. I have a prototype which I'm hoping to get installed in the next week or so and take some pictures, but I'm most people have a pretty good idea of what these look like.
So what I need now is an idea of who would purchase one if/when it becomes availible. If these are successful enough I'll probably be able to offer these whenever someone wants one,
So, who wants one?

Some other retailers are already making and selling them - I won't name them but, you could search the archives. Sounds like a great price though - got any pics?

I went to a plastic shop and got some ASB flat stock. 10 minutes with a few hand tools= $2 gauge panel. It's flat black with a grainy texture, looks great.

Make one yourself, its a piece of cake. Took me 20 min, and I added holes for screws on the bottom, probably not needed if you just make a snug fit. $30 for a little piece of aluminum with a few holes seems kind of silly, I can get a tank of gas for that!
