Default Jack spots and stands question...

Where is a good place to jack up our cars in the front? And what about positioning of jack stands??

Here's the picture of the appropriate jack points. I think Rich Sandor gets credit for creating it (and I'd love to know how he took the photo):

I don't see the 2 engine protection pans on this 951? If you have them on yours, to raise the front I think the best place is the frame rails. They look like metal 2x4s along the undercarriage, towards the centerline of the car, right behind the control arms.

I use some hockey pucks between the jack stands (mine are made of heavy pipe) and the car to protect the undercoating.

I also use hockey pucks, work great. They help clear the sideskirts on the 951 too.

Well DUH! All you have to do is get a ladder, flip the car over on its top, climb the ladder, and take a pic.

I'm guessing it's multiple photo's photoshopped together while the car is on a lift.

Maybe someone should take some photo's of their car properly put on jack stands but viewing from the side, where we normally view it. It's really hard to tell in this picture where the front ones are (even though I know exactly where he's indicating due to past experience). Sounds like something I could do this spring.

Get a pair of plastic Rhino Ramps (currently on sale for $19.95 in Seattle) and run the front tires up on them. They clear the front of my stock S2 just fine. Fooling around with jacks is lots easier with the added clearence from the ramps. When I needed to get the car up higher (as in removing the starter), I used two floor jacks on the front structural members. --Roy--

Why would you ever put jackstands there?
