Key Blank, where and what do I get?

I need to get a couple of new keys cut. i assume the blanks are not found at every corner auto shop. So, I have seen them online for reasonable prices...sort of. What do I need to know about to get the correct blank?

You can get the lighted key head/blank at the dealer for like $28 cut.

Or you can use a VW blank. $.50.

OK, VW blank it is! Only because there is no dealer near here...ormaybe because of the 27.50 savings...hmmm
