How old, 15 years or newer you can't bring in non North american spec cars.
7% gst 7.5% pst 6.1% import duty for non North American built cars.

If my math is correct and I am reading this thread right, the '86 951 is 17 years old and therefore eligible to be imported into Canada.

'88 or newer would be a problem.

I'm just curious, why would you want to import a p-car from England? Must be an unusually good deal - p-cars are usually mucho expensive over here.

besides, the 86 is so common, I'm SURE you can find a nice canadian exampe, and if not, there are plenty here in the states!

My guess would have been about $1000 for the shipping. Duties and tariffs ???

But I also have to ask why? Unless you already own the car and it's pristine and very low miles.

I'd say go with a US car... with the appreciation of the canadian dollar (20% in 18 months), you can have a much better deal! I'm looking into making US parts purchases while the dollar is up!

I don't know in BC, but in Quebec the DMV doens't keep records of vehicules older than 10 years... So that means I can buy a 30,000$ 1993 > 930 and save myself 15% in taxes

I will never buy a porsche from a dealer again!

If you've been out of Canada for a year, anything you've owned for more than 6 months comes in duty/taxes free.

Otherwise, go to the USA - P-cars are FAR cheaper there than here.

yes, im in BC and car prices are damn insane here. It dosn't matter what year / features, only what model you have. I.E 300zx 1990-1998 all selling for the same price, 944 n/a's listed at 8-9,000 cdn without any price diffrence for year / condition. It just insane. Next car I get, im driving down to Seattle or Calafornia and importing it back up.

$1000 CAD is cheap, i think it will be a lot more, however I'm not certain, I was pointed in the wrong direction when I was looking but I think it would be double that, i am hoping to bring my race car over in the summer and I am dreading the whole affair, if I can get a container like in the movies i'll be bringing my bike over with me as well.
