Belt adjustment tools?
What are good substitute wrenches to use to adjust timing and balance belts, if the porsche wrenches are not available?

Check out http://www.arnnworx.com for some aftermarket tools that do the job.
Trying to adjust the tension using standard 24 or 27mm wrenches will just lead to grief. There is not a lot of room for the larger wrenches even if you remove the lower timing belt cover.
Watch out about using aftermarket belt tensioning tools. They are controversial. I would avoid the Kricket and use this one instead if I were to not use the Porsche tool.
http://www.blaszakprecision.com/Belts.html He has taken the time to calibrate the tool and compare it to the factory tool.

The baszak tool is identical to the kriket, and both get consistent readings. There was a guy that tested the kriket, the baszak, and the 9201. You can search for the thread.
