Here's another weird thing that's going on with the engine...

I'm also definitely getting spark. Fuel is most definitely the culprit. I've ordered a new fuel pump relay, but is there any way I can electrically jump the pump?

Is this the sound of the fuel pump engaging? I can hear it every time I use the mirror toggle on the driver side door, activate the headlight/interior lights, use the manual adjustment on the headlight motor?

hahahahaha, DONT press that plate anymore dude...you're injecting loads of fuel in the cylinders and you now have LOADS of fuel in the oil...you need to change it....because now you don't have oil anymore...but fuel...so if you will run the car with this diluted oil you will damage the engine.
Its ok for starting it but not ok for driving it especially on boost.

DONT turn the headlight motor by hand anymore, its supposed to react if you do.
To fix the buzzing remove the relay ON that motor, clean it and refit it...also remove the wiring connector that feeds the headlight motor give it a clean and refit.
If still noisy then completely disconnect it for now.

The fuel pump sounds like its working, what was your buddy doing when you said: "ok now" ?
The fuel pump should only run when the ignition is turned on (for a short amount of time and the shut off unless you start the car)
Judging by the fact that you have the injectors singing, you have fuel so that's not the problem as if you had proper spark the car would start...as you have noticed the injectors are spraying fuel(by the way the engine is now flooded with fuel and the spark plugs are fouled...so even if everything was perfect now it would not start because of fouled plugs, you need to remove plug nr1 and nr 3 and let them dry before trying to start the car).

Take it to an electrician who is used to repairing older VWs and Audis, you have a short in the system, that's why the car is not starting.
It seems that the fuel pump gets power when you activate other switches in the car...that's not good and your car is in danger of catching fire, somebody did a lousy job with the wiring.

In the meantime, you can take a look under the dash/steering wheel and take a picture of the relay board and the two fuse panels.
This is what it should look like...make sure you have the right relays in the right sockets...I found a wiper relay in place of the AC relay on my car....you would be shocked to learn what silly mistakes some owners make.

Take out relay nr 2, second one from the top left. Inspect for part numer and contacts. If its the correct relay and contacts look ok reinstall. Do the same for the headlights relay.
But be careful it looks like relay nr3 is not the right one...it has that metal strap/bracket to it and its sitting a bit tilted...as well as making the fuel pump relay sit tilted.

So the fuel pump relay (nr2) matches the prongs/contacts on the picture you've posted, but there's no visible part number I can find that matches the actual number. Also, it has different pin points than the one you've posted. I can only assume it's not the correct relay even though it fits.

Also, the relay below the fuel pump relay (nr8) matches the numbers for an early 944 window relay, but there's no such relay on the diagram. It may also explain why my high beams don't work.

I cleaned the contacts on the headlight relay and they still will not operate, and the motor and relay are hot!

I saw this over on Oppo and I'm glad you're still in the game! I have to say, that's a nice looking 931. My experience is that those are a hell of a lot easier to work on than the 944s. Looking forward to seeing your progress on it!

Ok, lead off the battery, all relays out and check each if they are the right relay or not, post pics of them?
After refitting the correct relays, if there still is a problem you have to take this car to an electrician as probably there is an issue with the connections in the back of the relay panel or somewhere else in the wiring.

The current fuel pump relay matches the volts and amps for a regular 924 (12v/16A). The 931 relay is 12v/30A and I think it'll make a difference. The missing fuses (3 and 4) were replaced and I have high beams now! Unfortunately there was a rescheduling in my parts delivery so the proper relay and new headlights should be here tomorrow!

Also, at one point soon you will have to identify all the ground connections under the dash and in the engine compartment and give them a clean and re-fit.

One thing I should probably ask, why is there a really bad and loud grinding sound when I'm cranking the car? Bad starter motor??

Or incorrect motor. I don't know if there was more than one for the 2.0, but if it's a replacement bought at a chain auto store... You just never know. Their cross compatibility list are much to be desired on our cars.
