Default 944 part needed - ASAP

right now car is undriveable because ....

at the bottom of the power steering pump, there is a threaded piece that goes into a coupling and the coupling connects to another threaded piece. it is the belt tensioning mechanism basically. you would turn the coupling to tighten or loosen the belt. found otu mines stripped and the belt is squeeling like hell because theres no tension on it. Does nayone have an extra or a junk car they could pull it from? maybe another car type that has the same mechanism tha ti could go to a junk yard and get? If someone could let me knwo as soon as possible if they coudl get me one, and how mcuh it would be.. i'd like to do it asap and quickest shipping possible.
otherwise, let me know where i can get one, or if i can just drive it wihtout hte belt so i have no power steering for a bit. its a 1985.5 non turbo
thanks,

I got mine from the dealer. Somewhere around $20. Have you tried that route?

You can still drive. Just remove the belt. It will only be hard to turn when stationary other wise you'll hardly notice you have no PS. D

yeah thats what i did, because i have a leaky rack. but the thing i was worried about is: will this wear down the metals inside? is it safe for me to buy the rennsport seals kit, if ive been driving with "manual" steering for 2 years?

DONT DO THIS FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME ! ! ! ! !

I did that with my 88 na. and the lack of lubrication mad the the rack eat into the pinion. and jame the wholde thing up.

if you are going to do that. you need to cut off all of the tubes that ellad to the rack. jam that whole thing full of gresssse. and repack it with lube every 10 k miles.

the metal parts need the lubrication. and were not desighned to be ran for long periods of time without a lubrication medium.

it sucks to find out that your steering is loosing it when your doing over 100mph. (86T. the lack of lube wore down theparts to the point that it ould feel really sloppy at center and slightly tot he right and left.) after replacing it iwth a used but good unit. that problem dissapeared. when i measured the jurnal size of the rack. it was much larger then it was saposed to be. (I cant remember the exact measurements) and thus had alot of play when the steering wheel was in the most used position.. strait ahead.
