Don't forget the old gang. Green Lantern, Iron man, the Fantastic Four, Aquaman, Captian America, Wonder Woman and of course Superman. They all fought evil with some gimmick that helped to define their costume. There are a few more but as you can tell from my list I'm getting too damn old to remember!

Elasticman was an old superhero too! I think there was an Iceman but not sure. You might want to do a marvel comics google and see what you can find.

The Guyver, if you're into anime. I guess if you're not you could use MacGuyver, although I'm not sure that making gadgets out of crap and pocket lint is a superpower. It would be interesting to take a detailed look at how Captain America evolved from WWII comics through the 70s...complete cultural 180. And don't forget Popeye.

Bruiser was no ordinary dog. He was a dog with ESP.

From almost his first day on the planet, he was blessed with the ability to read the minds of other dogs. This made it particularly easy to sense which of his canine colleagues were friendly and which had hostile intentions. Of course, it's already fairly easy for a regular dog to guess this, since dogs make it a habit to wag their tails or growl, depending on their extreme moods. Also, dogs have comparitively small brains, and tend to think about food most of the time. That, and how to a good whiff of the dog on other side of the fence.

And so Bruiser lived his ten years with this unique ability. It was never a mystery to him what the other dogs in the neighborhood were pondering. Sometimes, it was Chuck Wagon, sometimes, raw meat. Once in a while, a dog craved the cool stream of well water from the garden hose. "It's sure hot out here," thought a lot of dogs. Another popular one was, "Stop that car! Stop that car!"

Bruiser was not able to read the thoughts of his human masters. And this was unfortunate, because if he had this ability, in addition to the amazing telepathic ability he already possessed, he would have sensed that his male owner, Jack, had intended to kill his wife that night. Knowing this very possibly might have led to an adventure wherein Bruiser was somehow able to alert the authorities and save Jack's wife, Louise, from being murdered. But that's just not the way it happened. The day after the terrible tragedy, which police mistakenly believed to be the work of burglars, Bruiser saw an unfamiliar dog across the street, and he was absolutely certain that this dog was in search of a bitch in heat.

Hard to argue with those......uh oops I mean that!

Go from the angle that she was a woman super hero in the 70/80's when being a woman and successful wasn't cool. She not only had to endure the Glass Ceiling but she flew a D@#$ Glass Airplane. If all else fails she's hot.

One other thing, since this is geared toward the academia don't use Striperella.

Default groo

Groo the Wanderer. Any fool can plainly see that.

I can plainly see that.

That was one of my favorite characters when I was younger. Ridiculously stupid.

Here's a quick free hand sketch from paint:

How about Robin Hood, steal from the rich and give to the poor and all that.
