Just to clarify. The short ratio steering rack that is discussed in this thread is the 2,1 turn powersteering rack that is made here in Sweden by Sellholm. I have one in my 968 Turbo S replica. To make it happen Sellholm need a late core rack for modification.
Rennlister SM is trying to set up a groupbuy for these racks to North America.

There is no manual 2,9 rack but the one I mention in post 48 which I had in my 944 Turbo Cup racecar meaning it was a Porsche Motorsport production piece. To get one of those racks you need to buy a 1987-89 Cup car 🙂

However the Sellholm 2,1 rack could be ordered as manual if a late core is supplied and jf one is using stock or narrow tires it should be ok.

How is the rack on long straightaways? I'd like to know if the ratio makes it seem twitchy at speed on long straights? Your input is very appreciated.

My car has 265:s in the front and 295:s in the rear with 2,5 degrees negative camber and only uniballs in the suspension and mountingpoints. Despite all that I feel that it is steady on the straights but ofcoarse very sensitive to input.
It is to me without a doubt the one part that made the biggest difference/improvement to the car

Happy New Year everyone!

Any updates on the group buy, or has everyone just enquired personally and made it an individual effort?

Have you had to do anything with the power steering pump? Is it up for that sort of duty?

Nothing done to the pump. I got a modified banjobolt with the rack when I bought it. No issues since I fitted this system.

Many racers here in Sweden has used these for years but to my knowledge without more issues than stock.

Per a previous post, the company would prefer to do these in a minimum of at least 5 units.

Has anyone done this individually yet?

If not, and are still interested, let's see who is firmly committed to this, TODAY, and can ship their rack to the EU within 2 weeks.

(I'll add names to this post as they are confirmed)

I’ve been waiting for a final price figure. The holidays have created some delays and I’m hopeful we can get this going soon.

Voith got a reply earlier, at current exchange rates, that's ~$835.00:

For clarity, he's been trying to iron out the details for us with Sellholm since mid November and is currently waiting on them. He's not being cheap. The price and other details may vary if its a group buy. I'm not sure if Voith mentioned the rest of us when he got that quote.

If it takes months to get the details how long does it take to get the rack? 5 years? haha

I have a CONUS shop, VERY well known, that may be able to perform this modification, including a complete refurb of all parts (replating, etc) for $850. I would like to get their commitment locked down then I will let the cat out of the bag.

Stay tuned...

Hi Goran

Yes we do modify the steering rack to short ratio.

We do not modify the EPAS unit.

You need to send the rack to us for modification.

Price is SEK 7600 ex VAT.

Best Regards

I have rebuilt my ''sport'' manual steering rack few weeks ago and it is internally in perfect condition so for now I'll pass this offer but low speed/parking EPAS with very quick rack would be nice.
