Default Rubber tie downs on rear hatch

Hey guys,

Do any of you use rubber tie downs for your rear hatch ?
I need to install some on my race car and need some info as to the
best way to do it !
My guess would be bolting them through the rubber spoiler , or is there a cleaner way of doing it ?

Thank you !

I used the bolts that hold the male pins to the hatch (2 bolts per side). I've improved upon my original design, but still used these holes.

I used the same method with the pin site. Cars at the shop, so can't take a picture, but i recall getting the idea from a thread here.

Kind of get the idea now , i'll flush rivet the bracket to a metal strip and pick up the two bolt holes for the male pins ... ever since my car took a solid hit at Mosport i've been having trouble with the rear hatch !

You might want to check out the rubber hold downs they use on snowmobiles. They hold the coachwork panels together. light + strong...usually have a **** on one end. Easily accessed.

Whatever hold downs you get, you need VERY STRONG ones or the hatch will let exhaust in. You also need VERY SHORT. The shorter the better. Yes, I will get you pics. If you don't have them by Monday, email me please!

Do you have a welder? Because clearances are so close a welder is very handy. Everything needs to be heavy duty or it will flex & not work.

Thanks Noah,

Got them ...oh boy , going to try to McGyver something a little more "different " so to speak !
I already get fumes in the race car, will have to get them latches real tight. They came from Sierra Madre and are pretty heavy duty ...

Yes i weld , it's a must with a race car ... a lot stronger than duct tape !!!

Just be sure you attain a strong hold on whatever method you use. We had a car spin off track backwards once and the wind was enough to release the hatch, flip it up, and break it off the car. He was then DQ'd for being underweight and having no hatch.
