Default 951 Cab-

Anyone have any contacts I might be able to make about getting one?
Any idea how much they go for, not including shipping?
If anyone has heard anything .. I'm looking for a black one, with a manual trans.

951's only come with maual transmitions, lookks like you'll have a hard time finding a cab to ship out here for cheap though but good luck.

You mean something like this?

I'm not selling, but they come up for sale occasionally in the German used auto sites:

http://www.autoscout24.de

You could ship one to the U.S. roll-on/roll-off from Germany for about $1,500. Only problem would be federalizing it, as these cars were not built to U.S. DOT specs and you'd have to work out the paperwork to make it street legal.

The US only got the 944S2 cab and no turbo cabs -- as usual, we miss out of some the coolest P-car goodies...

Don't forget -- there was the one 968 Turbo RS that ended up with Jason at Paragon!

Can you still federalize a Euro car, or is it too much trouble?

I have everything I need (but not everything I want) to build a 951 Cab, I hope to break ground on it this winter. However after driving the S2 Cab in the mountains the other day, I'm starting to think a turbo will get me into a lot of trouble in the twisties, guardrail-wise.) I'd hate to build this car and then wreck it or find it untractable in the corners. I might revise my plan to make it as smooth and driveable as I can.

Unless you want a real original 951 cab, why not buy a S2 and swap turbo motor/tranny in there and sell the S2 motor/tranny.

I'd want one from Porsche, that way there aren't any questions if it were done right, etc. .. plus, there's no kind of resale on a swapped car.
Not too worried about legality .. there are not-so-legal ways of doing everything

AFAIK, the only cabriolet versions offered by the factory in the 944/951/968 line were the 3.0 liter 944S2 and 968 cabs, and the 2.5 liter turbo cabs.

Thanks for the compliments, Preston. Incidentally, the factory mask I bought from you protected my 951 well from a major bug onslaught on a recent road trip.
