Default Rear Sway Bar on my 924S (looking)

Howdy all,

I know the 944 and 924S aren't cars you really add more Horse Power
into inexpensively, so I thought I might tweak out my suspension a bit.

The car really isn't worth much as it needs a new paint job and some
minor mechnical work, and I'd much rather save up for a 951 in the
(hopefully) near future, but for now I'm thinking about putting a rear
sway bar on the car.

I spoke with Jay at Parts Werks here in Chicago...he sells a lot of parts
on EBay and is only an hour away from me. He suggested I make sure
I get all the mounting hardware including the eccentric bolts otherwise
this would be a very expensive upgrade buying lots of odds and ends.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me as to what sway
bar would be good for a daily driver, and maybe possibly anyone might
have one tucked away or on a parts car that they might consider selling
off. Any bar is better then NO bar I would figure.

Any and all help is greatly apprecaited!

I'm don't have a suggestion as to what to look for, but since cost is a concern, here's a really cheap one: Rear Sway Bar on eBay. The seller says its from an 87 944 (so the rear was an option), it must be 21.5mm. You'll still need droplinks and bushings, however.

Check the option codes on the car (sticker is inside the trunk area, behind the driver's side taillamp).

Some of these cars came with a smaller swaybar not part of the M030 option. I'm just saying this in case you didn't get a good look under the car just yet.

Don't you have to get matching set front/back for the whole setup to work properly?

21.5?!?! My 968 M030 rear adjustable sway is only 19mm. Are you sure?

I already contacted that person on EBay, they don't have ANY of the
hardware, but there is another sway bar that's ending in 4 days that
I'm going to be bidding on, if not Sniping. Hopefully nobody from the
forums is going to get into a bidding war with me...I think that's silly
when people who might know eachother do that...

No sway bar at all on my car. It was a base model without the rear wiper,
stick, and sunroof delete. I crawled under the car just to double check.
I've got no bar at all.

21.5 is probably the FRONT sway bar. Rear bars have the drop links which
can be used to adjust tension (if I'm not mistaken) and don't need to be
as thick in diameter to acheve the amount of force that the front ones
do. So I think Tifo is right.

If you get a rear sway, you can get the bushings and droplinks/mounts from Ian at 944online.com........

Ooops! Sorry, the rears on the 87s are 14mm (the 21.5mm are the fronts).

Thanx, I just sent 944Online a part request and explained my having a
924S. Hopefully they might come up with something inexpensive.

Email 944Pete. I bet he has a stock 944 rear sway in his garage, left-over from when he upgraded his old 85.5 944 to 951 sways. Then get the droplink kit from Ian or Paragon (the KLA unit).

Do the Drop Link kits usually have that bolt to mount them to the car? If
not, then where can I get them?

I might take you up on that bar if I can be 100% sure I can get all the
parts.
