You could always return them, it's not like you have used them or anything right? But they are still nice injectors.

Latency is just a term used to describe how long it takes the injector to fully open. So let's say at idle, fully warmed up, each injector is commanded to stay open for 5 milliseconds, in order to achieve a good AFR. Just a made up figure but in the ballpark for most 4cyl engines with good sized injectors. If your injector latency is 1 ms, then the ECU knows this in advance, so it will actually command the injectors to open for 6 ms during that cycle. That way they are fully open for 5 ms. You can see where if you didn't know that latency, you wouldn't have a clear way to tell the ECU how long to compensate for their opening time.

Latency is also referred to as "dead time" and "lag time" and probably a few others. This is mostly critical at low RPMs, since as RPM rises, the overall injector command time increases (opening time becomes relatively smaller and smaller compared to this commanded time).

As far as buying them, there are ton of online retailers. The cheapest seems to be ebay sellers, I've seen them for as low as $130 for all 4. But sometimes it's worth the extra $10-20 to get them from a vendor who can offer you a solid warranty which you don't always get from misc. ebay sellers.

Great explanation brother! (Duh. I have so much to learn).

Odonnell said "nice injectors"

Noah performs a Vanna White with the wave of his hand and reiterates the feature "Surface finish: Bright Pink composite"

----------

Honestly, I followed the tried & true approaches from the ecm designer. None of it is cheap, but he says I should be able to crank the engine & have it run, which is very valuable to me. Siemens is a reputable company & that route would have saved me money. I also looked into "decapping injectors"-something to read up on for those who are curious... but like Lindsay Racing says, "injectors are the most critical part of the boosted engine build", and I knew I could trust Five0.

Speaking of LR, I just got my new rod bearings & o-rings and rod nuts in record time... perfectly accurate order & super fast delivery! Thank you Lindsay Racing!!

My 62 lb high impedance injectors came in. Now I am worrying that I should have bought bigger injectors (for future mods down the road) but I've read anything over 15 psi for street is not good, and I need Wilson in my life on a regular basis - so street driving is the plans and that being the case I'm probably good for injectors for ever. But I'm just curious what the hp maximum of these injectors are. The suckers shipped from Cali, USA to Calgary, Canada in 24 hours. Incredible.

After studying the Throttle Body upgrade that some of ya'll are doing, I bought this 60-65mm crown vic TB (non-cruise) with TPS & 3 wire connector. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP on the TPS suggestions guys!!

Drove to meet Ross at Simplified Digital System today.
Was surprised yet impressed to find the business headquarters is in a airplane hanger.

He was super friendly. Generously offered to meet me on a Sunday so I could pick the system up (just 3 days after I placed the order!). I really felt respected & appreciated for giving SDS my patronage & I was rewarded with what appears to be a very user friendly system to install.

Ross stated that they used to be one of three Stand Alone builders in the automotive industry (some 23 years ago when he & his partner started), but now they are one of a much higher number. Originally he built high performance race cars for people but now he mostly supplies stand alone systems for the air craft industry.

Here is a few pictures from his place of business. The plane was made with his own hands and is "a bit old school" by todays standards, but is fully functioning and performs flawlessly.

Oh and regarding the hp limit of the injectors, I asked him if he could guess & he just walked three feet to a chart on the wall and calmly said 4XX hp (I forget the number 420 or 450 or similar figure).

So I did good by buying those squirters. I think they will provided me with more fuel then I have driving skill!

Here is the "unboxing" of the stand alone system for anyone who's curious what a proper system might contain for converting from non turbo to turbo.

They don't claim to be the best, but they claim to be very easy to install and they use the finest materials (for instance USA made high grade heat & corrosion resistant terminals that won't cause an air plane to fall from the sky. LOL).

Question: Is there any significant benefit to installing an electronic boost controller (example: http://greddy.com/featured/42 ) when you have a stand alone ecu?

1) whaaaaaa...... Noah, what the hell man! You crazy Canadian! Have you not listened that the zillion post on here, and all the other fourms we're on, that you DON'T turbo a NA? You buy a freakin' 951 and be done with this nonsense!!!!!! Did you finally get brain freeze up there with the moose's??? I can never go away again, you lose your mind while I'll gone!

2) Brother, I could never be more proud of you! Leave it to Noah to do what they said can't be done. As always I'm blown away by both your adventurous antics and breakneck speed your able to work at! Have I told you your my hero?

3) Can't wait for the day you turn that key!

4) As I've been saying for some time, the traditional wisdom of "just buy a 951, it's cheaper" is going out the window. Your paving the way to the future. It won't be long till the 951 is no longer as much of an option. I'm having to go to Alabama to find one! And a quick look at Hagerty tells the story. I wasn't really ready to get my 951 yet, but I'm afraid if I wait too long they will be out of reach of the likes of myself.

5) Most people won't be able to do all the custom fabrication you can, but I can't wait to see how much you end up being able to do this for. I bet our quest for turbo will end up costing about the same.

As always keep it up, and keep us posted!
